YPD 2011

9th Annual Training Program  YPD 2011

Jakarta dan Bali,  on October  24-November 4, 2011

The 9th Annual Training Program Young People for Development (ATP YPD) 2011

Actually the 9th Annual Training Program Young People for Development (ATP YPD) 2011 would be held in August 2011, but the time was changed, because our team in Jakarta at the time was not strong and not ready to welcome participants.

So, the training would be on 24th October-4th November 2011. Thanks for understanding this situation. However, I would like to inform you that 9th ATP YPD was successful and hopefully all participants got some insights, knowledge, and experience from this training. Even though we’re few people came to this program, it doesn’t mean to reduce your enthusiasm.

All participants came from Vietnam (Saigon, 3 people and Hanoi, 2 people); Thailand (Chiang Mai, 2 people and Karen, 1 people); Nepal (2 people); France (2 people); Australia (1 people), and Indonesia (8 people). Our activities were carried out at 3 places in Bogor, Jakarta, and Bali.

1.      Bogor (on October 24-26, 2011)

  1. Getting knowledge about  Environment “climate change” from Longgena Ginting
  2. Getting knowledge about Tolerance “Building Peace through SEE, JUDGE, and ACT” by Stefan Gigacz
  3. Sharing and discussing about mythology of YPD, that are, See, Judge, and Act.
  4. Knowing each other

2.     Jakarta (on October 27-31, 2011)

  1. Getting knowledge about Poverty by Arist Merdeka Sirait.
  2. Doing Activities with Poor Children. Participants were doing some activities, for instance, teaching some songs, games, and languages.
  3. Doing Social Action with Hundreds of Street Children. The title “One Day with Street Children”. Here we’re doing some activities, for instance we gave them a chance to express their talent. Some of them like drawing, singing, and dancing. We made some group and gave them time to do what they want. After that we gave them some goody bag.
  4. Doing Social Action with Scavenger and visiting their place. Some of us were touched to see their life, because they live with garbage and really inhuman.
  5. Visiting Mosque of Istiqlal (Arabic word: Independence Mosque) is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia in terms of capacity to accommodate people and building structure. This national mosque of Indonesia was built to commemorate Indonesian independence, as nation’s gratitude for Islam’s blessings; the independence of Indonesia. Therefore the national mosque of Indonesia was named “Istiqlal”, an Arabic word for “Independence”.
  6. Visiting Jakarta Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Jakarta, which is also the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Jakarta, currently Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo. It official name is Gereja Santa Maria Pelindung Diangkat ke Surga (from Dutch, De Kerk van Onze Lieve Vrouwe ten Hemelopneming, in English: The Church of Our Lady of Assumption). This current cathedral was consecrated in 1901 and built in the neo-gothic style, a common architectural style to build churches at that time. The Jakarta Cathedral is stood right in the front of Istiqlal Mosque.
  7. Culture Night Show
  8. Visiting Church and worship together in the Indonesian Christian Church
  9. Visiting some families, those are, August (Mr Google) and Lenny’s family.

3.      Bali (on November 1-4, 2011)

  1. a.. General Assembly (GA). In this GA, we had an evaluation of the 9th Annual Training Program Young People for Development (ATP YPD) 2011: what was the nicest and worst experience; Most important thing I learned; After the Program what I will do; and Recommendation to YPD. After that each country delivered the presentation of what they already did in their organization, what they’re doing, and what they will do. This time we have time to listen from Team Nepal (not-YPD) and also one of Organization as a member of RECIT. Team Nepal promise that they will try to build the YPD in their country. Thank you Tirtha Poudel and Santosh Ghimire (Resham Firiri). We hope after arriving in Nepal, you think to build YPD there. Laure and Dylan from another organization (a member of RECIT) tried to help YPD to write down the concrete project from YPD. Hopefully they can help us! Thank you Laure and Dylan to concern and interest to cooperate with YPD.

In this GA, we elected as a new International Coordinator, International Communication Officer, and International Assistance 2011/2012, as follow:

 – International Coordinator: Jantima Vichitporn (BB) from YPD Chiang Mai, Thailand.

– International Communication Officer: Bui Anh Phuong (Phuong) from YPD Hanoi, Vietnam.
